SCARBOROUGH: Teen killed days after man shot on same street
Victim in Mornelle Court shooting believed to be about 17
A young man has been shot and killed just days after a man was shot in the neck and legs on the same Scarborough neighbourhood.
The murder victim, believed to be about 17, was pronounced dead about 6:45 p.m. Thursday, July 17, after paramedics worked furiously to save him in a stairwell between two buildings on Mornelle Court in the area of Ellesmere Road and Morningside Avenue.
Neighbours, who said the victim lived in one of the buildings, reported hearing at least half a dozen gunshots before seeing a black BMW drive from the scene and a possible gunman run into a nearby building.
Just last weekend, a 22-year-old man was shot in the neck and legs during a confrontation outside 80 Mornelle Court. He was rushed to hospital, where he remains with serious injuries.
Police said the man was wounded after four or five shots were fired about 7 p.m. on July 12.
Investigators were unable to determine a cause for the shooting and pleaded for witnesses to come forward.
