Scarborough resident bowls into world championships

Local bowler Jennifer Besana is competing in the under-23 World Youth Championships for Canadian Tenpin Federation Inc. in Orlando, Florida from July 18 to 26.

She is one of four members on the girl's team. The other team players are from Quebec and Alberta.

A team of boys will also be competing.

More than 350 players on teams from 58 countries are competing at the Boardwalk Entertainment Centre, an 80-lane centre, which has been the site of many championships.

The event includes competition in singles, doubles and teams.

The Canadian Tenpin Federation was formed in 1969 to qualify representatives for international competition.

The Scarborough Mirror will follow-up with the story when Besana returns from Florida.
