A Jasper Avenue resident hopes the snow is cleared from his entire street this winter and road repair is dealt with quickly.

Russell Mabee said part of his Weston Road and Black Creek Drive area street was ploughed last winter but a section by his home was repeatedly missed.

"The snow plough did my portion of the street twice last year but it didn't matter because the snow was already melted at that point," Mabee said. "It's up hill to get off the street and I get stuck in the snow. We have to shovel the roadways ourselves."

Jasper Avenue is also covered with potholes and a storm drain frequently backs up during rainfall, Mabee said.

"The reason it backs up is that we are at the bottom of a hill, not to mention the park's (Westlake Memorial) storm drains are all backed up and flow into it," he said.

Ward 11 Councillor Frances Nunziata (York South-Weston) said her office has addressed every concern Mabee has brought forth, adding many roads in her ward are in similar condition.

"He wants it all done in five minutes," she said, noting road resurfacing is scheduled for parts of her ward, including Jasper Avenue, next year. "In the winter we get hundreds of calls regarding snow ploughs. Last year there was a real problem with snow removal because we had so much snow. We'll have to wait to see what happens this winter (with ploughing on Jasper Avenue) because there is nothing I can do about it in the summer."
