The Pixels for Pistols gun amnesty has been extended due to its overwhelming success, police say.
The program, which exchanges guns for digital cameras, was launched Oct. 22 and was scheduled to end Nov. 23. It has been extended to Dec. 1.
As of Nov. 21, more than 900 firearms and 18,000 rounds of ammunition have been turned over to police.
Police received 261 firearms during the last amnesty, held in 2005.
This year's amnesty is a partnership between Toronto police and Henry's Camera.
Anyone who turns in a firearm gets a gift card for a Nikon Coolpix digital camera and lessons at Henry's School of Imaging. No firearm possession charges will be laid.
The gift card can be redeemed at any one of Henry's four GTA locations.
Anyone who wants to turn in a gun should call police at 416-808-2222.
Guns should not be brought to a police station or a Henry's store.
