A man faces second-degree murder charges in connection with the Aug. 28, 2008 murder of a woman near Spadina Avenue and Dundas Street West.

Mizan Ahmed, 23, of no fixed address, was apprehended on Wednesday, Nov. 19 in London, Ontario.

A warrant was issued for his arrest on Wednesday, Nov. 18 as a result of further police investigation into the homicide.

Initially police did not suspect foul play at the time of the 23-year-old Tahmina Yeasmin's death.

A post-mortem examination revealed the young woman died as a result of a ligature neck compression.

Yeasmin's death was the 62nd homicide of 2008.

Ahmed appeared in court on Thursday, Nov. 20.
