A worker at the Portlands Energy Centre on Unwin Avenue was injured Wednesday, Nov. 19.
Rob Ashley, a spokesperson for the Ontario Ministry of Labour, said the worker fell from a scaffold work platform he was standing on at about 2:30 p.m.
"(He) was grinding paint off of a boiler when the platform became dislodged and the worker fell," said Ashley, adding the man was an employee of Scarborough's Black and McDonald Ltd.
Shortly after the accident, the MOL issued an order to the site's constructor, SNC-Lavalin Power Ontario. The order required the scene not be disturbed. That order has since been lifted.
The Ministry also issued a second order requiring the constructor to provide a platform designed to resist and support all loads and be free from movement.
In an e-mail, Joe Reid of the Portlands Energy Centre, indicated the worker was transported to hospital, but has since been released.
The Ministry of Labour and SNC-Lavalin Power Ontario are investigating the situation.
