Public school elementary teachers in Ontario have resumed government-facilitated discussions trying to reach a four-year labour framework agreement.
The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario and the Ontario Public School Boards' Association jointly requested the province grant a five-day extension for talks to continue after failing to reach an agreement by the Nov. 30 deadline. The government agreed, allowing the public school boards to remain eligible for the full funding enhancements offered by the province.
The latest offer by the school boards would have provided Ontario's English public school teachers a 12 per cent wage increase over four years.
