The Little Art Show, an annual fundraiser for the Artists' Network's Riverdale Art Walk and its art space, Hang Man Gallery, has a new home.

This year, the seventh annual art show and silent auction has been relocated from the BMV Don Valley dealership to Mercedes-Benz Downtown at 761 Dundas St. E.

"It's going to be very beautiful with a really nice view as a background for the art," said Rachel Conduit, the event's co-ordinator.

Unique eight-by-10 inch pieces created by 152 Canadian and international artists have been chosen to appear in the whimsical event, which is set to take place this Saturday, Dec. 6 from 7 to 11 p.m.

This is the first time that the Little Art Show is officially a juried event.

"The artwork that came in was really good," said Conduit, adding that one artist used melted-down makeup for her creation while another used candle smoke.

"Anything goes, basically."

March Gregoroff, the executive director of the Artists' Network, said the Little Art Show is an excellent opportunity to buy a unique Christmas or birthday gift for someone who has everything.

"Not only does this support a local and worthwhile initiative but this is a great way to begin a collection or add to a collection," she said. "It's also a good chance to do that Christmas shopping that you need to do."

Gregoroff said the event is also a perfect opportunity to get out your party clothes and enjoy a lovely soiree.

"It's a cheap, fun date in a gorgeous environment," she smiled, adding that on average each piece sells for about $150.

The Little Art Show will feature DJ Brent Tobox and pianist Monica Clorey, the founder of the Toronto Toy Piano Composers.

There will also be live drawing, painting and sculpting demonstrations by three artists of a live model throughout the evening.

As always, hors d'oeuvres and libations provided by local retailers will be served. There will also be various prize draws for gift certificates.

New this year is valet parking at the event.

Mercedes-Benz, Ticketweb, Curry's Artists' Materials and Steam Whistle Pilsner are the event's main sponsors as are numerous local merchants.

Tickets to the Little Art Show cost $15 in advance or $20 at the door. They can be purchased by calling 416-465-0302 or visit www.ticketweb.ca
