These are just some of the recipes found in Grandmother's Cookbook by Carrie J. Gamble.

Gamble and her grandmother, Elizabeth Rose von Hohen, spent afternoons together sipping tea. She would ask her grandma to write down her families recipes.

After testing, tasting and laughing, the Grandmother's Cookbook was born, which is filled with various recipes, watercolour chapter dividers and family history and pictures.

The book, which sells for $19.95, is available at www.grandmotherscookbook.com.

Abbreviated contest rules

To enter the Grandmother's Cookbook contest, people must send in their names, complete addresses, daytime telephone numbers and the answer to this skill-testing question: Whose recipes are in Grandmother's Cookbook?

Send entries by 11:59 p.m. Sunday, May 18. Readers must complete the official contest form. Youth 18 and younger must also include parental consent, parents' first and last names and parents' daytime telephone numbers.

The winners, who must live in one of the communities in which Toronto Community News distributes, will be chosen in a random draw by a TCN representative after 8:30 a.m. Monday, May 19. The winners will be contacted by phone and must come to 100 Tempo Ave. in North York or 307 Humberline Dr. in Etobicoke by 5 p.m. Friday, May 30 to pick up their prize or their prize will be forfeited.

There is only one entry per household with multiple entries being destroyed. TCN employees and their families are unable to enter. Odds of winning depends on the number of entries received. There is no cost to the winner. No purchase is necessary. Visit insidetoronto.com for complete contest rules.
