Scarborough man faces sex-related charges in U.S.
Undercover officer posed as teen girl in computer chats
A Scarborough resident was arrested in Buffalo last Wednesday after a man initiated online conversations of a sexual nature with an undercover deputy sheriff posing as a 14-year-old girl.
"He also sent the undercover two webcam videos and five photographs of himself performing unwarranted sexual acts," the Ulster County Sheriff's Office in New York state alleged in a news release.
A man had allegedly indicated he would like to meet with the teen for the purpose of having sex, and the initial meeting was to take place in Ulster County but he was unable to finance the trip.
A suspect then requested to meet in Buffalo.
A man was taken into custody without incident as he arrived at a train station in downtown Buffalo.
Arulkumaran Thanabalasingam, 28, of Staines Road, was arrested for seven counts of disseminating indecent material to a minor in the first degree.
