Police set up command post

Police are investigating after a quantity of chemicals was discovered in a storage facility on Middlefield Road south of Finch Avenue Tuesday afternoon.

"Someone had gone into the storage facility, found these chemicals, was obviously concerned and contacted police," Const. Tony Vella said. "We're attempting to render the area safe first. And at that time we'll find out exactly what these chemicals are and what the purpose of these chemicals are."

Police closed Middlefield and set up a command post at a church near the storage facility.

The investigation continues.
