The Salsa on St. Clair Street Festival has been so successful that for its fourth year organizers have expanded the festivities.
The event, which will now be known as the Salsa in Toronto Festival, will have two branches: Salsa at Ontario Place on Thursday, July 10 from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Salsa on St. Clair, which runs Saturday, July 12 from noon to 11 p.m. and Sunday, July 13 from noon to 8 p.m.
This weekend's free-of-charge family street festival includes live music, dance lessons, shows and performances, food and drink, a Latin marketplace, special exhibitions and activities for children.
St. Clair Avenue from about Bathurst Street to Wychwood Avenue will also be closed to vehicular traffic for the two-day event.
New this year, the Salsa on St. Clair Festival will welcome a roster of local as well as international artists. This expanded entertainment lineup was made possible through a collaborative effort involving Lula Lounge's Jose Ortega.
Organizers of the Salsa in Toronto Festival have also teamed up with the team behind the Caribana Festival to form a new cross-promotional partnership.
The collaboration came together as a way for the two major cultural festivals to support each other's efforts.
Tele-Latino Television, the City of Toronto, the Hillcrest Village Business Improvement Area and Ontario Place are putting on Salsa in Toronto.
